What is DNOW?

DNOW is almost here, and this year’s theme is Known. Join us November 6-8 for a weekend built around what it means to be fully seen and fully loved by God: high-energy worship, breakout sessions on what students are actually navigating right now, and all-out Tribe Wars are at the church. We’ll also break into small groups and spend the night in homes throughout our BHBC community, hosted by vetted, background-checked adult members. It’s in that homey small-group setting where students tend to open up the most, growing closer to Jesus and closer to each other.

The event kick off is Wednesday, November 4 during MDWK. The actual DNOW Weekend begins Friday, November 6 and ends Sunday after morning Worship.

How can I be involved?

LifeGroup Leaders and Church Members: We’d love for you to pray about opening your home or partnering alongside families who do. (Hosting is the biggest need!)

College/Young Adults: We want you leading small groups! Gone are your middle and high school days, but you have a wonderful opportunity to share the message of Jesus and pour into a younger generation while modeling what a godly young-adulthood looks like.

Parents: We need your help! Could you drive kids, serve food, open your home, or feed a group lunch? There are MANY ways for you to help, with various time commitments. Plus, it will be that much more impactful for you to see an inside view of what your student is getting to experience.

Students: Invite your friends to this amazing weekend! Can’t come the whole time? Come to as much as you can, and you can check in-and-out for games, testing, and other commitments using a parent-signed Time Away Card. We want to remove all barriers for you to fully experience this amazing weekend of growing closer with Jesus and for your friends who need to meet him for the first time to come and experience his gift of salvation!

Please note our updated Phone Policy:

Phone Policy: Students are welcome to bring their phones to DNOW, however they are encouraged to put their phones away and be fully immersed in the weekend! We don’t want them to be distracted during powerful discipleship moments in small groups or worship. Students will not need their phones during the weekend, so you can choose not to let them bring one. To help students stay present and get good rest each night, phones will be turned in to leaders at lights out and kept on a supervised central charging station until morning, when students get them back.

Host Homes will not be providing access to WiFi for students both for their protection and the protection of your student. We know that you as parents may have different parameters and securities set up and we want to respect that, so our Host Homes have been asked not to provide WiFi access. There is WiFi available at the church.

Tribe Wars!

What color is YOUR grade? Be sure to grab some fun costume stuff in your team’s color and wear it to the Tribe Wars on Saturday! It’s time for some serious team spirit! (No glitter, please!)

DNOW Missions Project:

Each year at DNOW we have a missions project to benefit the underprivileged students and families in our community. Let’s make a difference together and bring hope into our community! Check back soon for more details!

What you need to know (the FAQ):

DiscipleNow Weekend will have large-group worship events at our church, breakouts, several small-group sessions in host homes led by small group leaders, and an off-the-chain large-group recreation time. It is going to be amazing, and you need to invite your friends! We can’t wait to see you there!

Dates:

DNOW Weekend is November 6-8. Our kickoff and early check-in will be on November 4 at MDWK. We know there will be some football games or other activities happening that weekend, so we’ll have additional late check-in options and a time-away card if you need to come and go throughout the weekend. It’s okay if you can’t be there the whole weekend! Come for the parts you can!

Weekend Format:

While our large group worship, breakouts, and recreation will be on campus, small group sessions will happen off-site at the homes of our vetted and trusted Burnt Hickory members. You’ll find out your home, group info, and everything you need to know when you check in on our Kick-Off night or at Check-In on November 6. We’ll have registration set up Friday night, with a late-night option for those with sports or other obligations. Instead of going to your own home each night, you will stay at your host homes with your small group and college leader.

Small Groups:

Each small group will have their own host home and small group leader. These are some of the best college students and young adults we know and they’re excited to get to know you and share their perspective and love for Jesus with you. Please keep in mind, when you register you can request to be grouped with a friend, but they also need to request you. We do our very best to honor these requests! If you bring visitors, they would room with you as long as they are the same grade and gender.

Your small group will be assigned to a host home.

Recreation:

You’ll have an off-the-chain Rec – TRIBE WARS! I mean, we are hyping it up from last year and we’re looking at how to make it even better than it has ever been! Dress up in your team color and go ALL IN! Please do not use glitter out of respect for our host homes and our facilities staff.

Large Group Worship & Speaking:

You’ll be a part of an amazing worship experience in every way you can think of! Lights? Check! Band? Worship leaders? Only the best!

You’ll get to sit under some dynamic truth speaking from one of our favorite speakers, and learn what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus and explore the idea of what it means to be truly known by Jesus.

Breakout Sessions:

We’ll have 4 different breakout sessions for students to choose from this year. These will be middle school or high school specific. Select the breakout you’re most interested in on the registration form:

What does your registration cost include?

Large Group Worship Experience, Breakout Sessions, Small Groups, Recreation, Food and MERCH! I mean… would it even BE DNOW if you didn’t get the merch? Yes, you’ll get a shirt and some other fun stuff!

What happens if I can’t get there until late Friday Night?

If you’ll be arriving late, please select the late option on the registration form. Registration and check in will be open until 9:45 PM. If you arrive after 8:30 PM, worship will have already started. So head up to the Radiate Auditorium and you’ll find a check-in table up there, so check in before you go into worship and find out where to stow your luggage. If you arrive after 9:45 PM, we’ll have a check in station in the new main lobby by the front doors.

If you’re coming in later than that, be watching for a text from our staff around 9:30 PM. We’ll be texting out your host home’s name, address and phone number so you’ll know where to go. Please text or call your host home and let them know when to expect you.

What happens if I can’t be there the whole time?

We’ll have a paper time away form for you to fill out and have signed by a parent for you to come and go as you need. You’ll receive this form at check in or you can download it and fill it out to bring with you. Need to come late Friday night after a game or band practice? No problem…catch up with your group at the host home. Need to leave for a while for a practice on Saturday? You can do that too. Taking the SAT Saturday morning? Come to worship then head to your home Friday night to get some rest and join us after your SAT is over. We don’t want you to feel like you can’t attend because of prior commitments!

Are phones allowed?

If your family needs financial assistance please contact our staff at radiate@burnthickory.com, stating your need and what kind of assistance you need. We will do our best to help your student be able to attend.
