Phantom Sponsor T-shirts will be available to pick up February 22. Please indicate on your registration whether you will pick up your tee or if you need the student to pick it up. RFTS does not provide shipping options.
Please note: The last day for Phantom Sponsors to order a tee will be February 8, even though phantom sponsor registration stays open until February 23. Our final T-Shirt order will be placed February 9. Become a Phantom Sponsor
If you want to know that you’ve sponsored a student for missions and want the shirt without the work, this option is for you (but be sure to sign up before February 9 if you want the shirt!). After all, not all of us are down for all of that exercise stuff, but we do love to support a good cause! Or maybe you want to show support to a student, but live too far away to participate in our race day activities. We’ve got you! The student that you’re sponsoring can pick up your t-shirt and get it sent to you. Please note: T-shirts are available for our Phantom Runners, but we cannot guarantee sizes as runners have the first shirt pick-up.
Why are we running? Who is it for?
Run for the Son 5K/10K proudly benefits the Burnt Hickory Baptist Radiate Student Ministry International Missions Program. All proceeds for this race go directly to help our students be able to engage in missions both locally and around the world. It also helps to fund the Eric Petty Memorial Scholarship awarded to outstanding leaders in the Radiate Student Ministry.

Race Number Pickup:
Race packet & t-shirt pickup will be Friday, February 6 from 4:30-6:00 PM in main lobby of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, and on race day before the race if you’re not able to pick up on Friday.
The Course:
Begin and end in the parking lot of Burnt Hickory while making a scenic rolling loop on Due West & Burnt Hickory Roads. (Yes, the front of our building is under construction, but don’t worry, our finish line has been modified with safety and convenience in mind!) Whether you’re an avid runner looking to qualify for the Peachtree Road Race, or you’re planning to stroll and chat with friends with a chicken biscuit in hand, this race is for you! Come be a part of this family friendly race!
Timing:
Electronic timing and race results will be provided by a timer using chip readers and race bibs. We will use a “Gun Shot” race start. Results will be available on race day. Finish line photos will be posted after the race. 5K & 10K race times are official qualifiers for the Peachtree Road Race for all who run in person. Virtual runs do not count as qualifier times.
Additional Info Regarding Strollers & Dogs:
This is a family-friendly race! Whether you want to push your little one in a stroller, walk with friends, bring your favorite running buddy (AKA your dog), or you’re an avid runner looking to beat your PR, all are welcome. This is a gunshot start race with a chip-timed finish. We do ask that room be given at the starting line for people who are serious runners looking for a qualifying time! Walkers should stay to the back of the crowd at the start line.
Refund & Transfer Policy
Run for the Son is a charitable event. As such, race registrations are non-refundable. All registration fees directly support our students through mission efforts and leadership scholarship opportunities.
If you are unable to participate, we are happy to transfer your race bib to another runner at no additional cost. To request a transfer, please contact us with the name and email address of the new participant.
Please note, runner shirts not claimed by the Sunday following the race (2/8) will be placed back into our inventory for our phantom sponsor shirts. If you miss the race due to illness, please contact Maria at mthomas@burnthickory.com, with your name, contact info and shirt size by 2/8 to arrange a pickup during office hours at Burnt Hickory’s reception desk.
